Local Attractions

We have tried to take a cross section of the many and varied attractions in the regions, there are simply too many to list but am sure some will whet your appetite.

Close to home is the Mervent forest great for cycling, walking, canoeing, kayaking and horseriding.

Safe sandy beaches, 240 kms of coastline to discover with 140 kms of sandy beaches, La Tranche sur Mer and La Faute sur Mer are both very popular.

La Rochelle is one of France's most historic and strategic ports, playing a vital role during WWII. Sit in one of the pavement cafes in the old port and watch the world go by or visit many of the fashionable boutiques set amongst stunning period French architecture. La Rochelle now has its own large Ferris wheel so discover the town from a birds eye view. Other attractions include boat trips to the outlying islands, the Aquarium and close by is the chic and beautiful island of Ile de Re.

The Venise Vert (Green Venise) is in the Marais Poitevin. Travel by 'batai', a flat bottomed boat typical of the region and discover the green cameo landscapes, picturesque natural settings, diverse wildlife, flora and fauna.

Parc Pierre Brune, Chateau des Aventures, Indian Forest are great days out for the all members of the family.
Just over an hour away and well worth a days trip is the world famous Puy de Fou and Futuroscope.
Not to mention the Chateaux, Abbeys and gardens which are all close by.
